Mt. Kailash Kora
Mt. Kailas means precious mountain and its associated Lake Mansarovar could be considered the most sacred place on earth. It is represented cosmos in the center by Buddhists thoughts and abode of Lord Shiva by Hinduism thoughts. Most of the Buddhist and Hindus devotees including western people are willing to make the circuit of holy Mt. Kailas to add another one more best element in the good Karma. It is believed that single Parikarma erases the accumulated sins of a lifetime, while 108 circumambulations will achieve salvation/ Nirvana. This is a very sacred place for four religions such as Hinduism; Jainism; Buddhism and Bon. Hinduism: Mt. Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva and his power of symbols OM. Where he does the perpetual meditation along with his wife Parvati. He is a master of Yoga and divine Tantra. According to the description in Vishnu Purana of Mountain; its four faces are made of Crystal; Ruby; Gold; Lapis Lazuli which it is a pillar of the universe and located at the heart of six mountain ranges symbolizing a lotus. Kailash is known as Meru or Sumeru Parbat in Jainism. Ashtapada next to the Kailash; where their first Tirthankara; Rishabhadeva attained the salvation/ Nirvana.
Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu.
If Sky is clear, prior landing to Tribhuvan Int’l airport you will be greeted with heavenly snow-capped mountains. After customs clearance, you will be welcomed by our tour coordinator and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Leisure in Kathmandu.
Day 03: Early morning drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam ( Alt: 3750m).
Early morning about 185 km drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam 3750 meter via Kodari border. The road climbs steadily uphill out of the Kathmandu Valley, past breathtaking views through a luxuriant, deep gorge shifting to a windy barren pass. Known as ‘Kuti’ to Nepalese traders, Nyalam is tucked into a fertile valley and used to be an important trade center. Nowadays, barrack-style Chinese communes surround the typical old flat-roofed, mud-brick houses. Although vegetation is sparse, one can see an abundance of alpine fauna of the hillside during the summer months. Stay at Guesthouse in Nyalam.
Day 04: Drive from Nyalam to Saga ( Alt: 4280 m).
After breakfast drive from Nyalam to Saga 4280 meter. The road climbs to the 5120m ThongLa Pass then drops down before climbing to the Lalung-La Pass [5124m]. To the south, marvelous view of Mt. Shishapangma [8012m and Pegu Tso Lake, continues across the plain with stunning Himalayan views. The route then follows a narrow gorge before climbing to a pass and dropping steeply down to a ferry crossing over the Yarlung Tsangpo. Stay at Guesthouse in Saga.
Day 05: Drive from Saga to Paryang ( Alt: 4750m).
After breakfast drive to Parayang. It provides excellent views of small Monastery, western end of town on a hill and excellent views of snowy mountains. Stay at Guesthouse in Paryang.
Day 06: Drive from Paryang to Lake Manasarovar (Alt: 4560m).
Early morning 260 km drive from Paryang to Lake Manasarovar is a long drive of 10 hrs or more. There will be several river crossings and we drive past Mayum-La Pass [4600m]. The scenery is stunningly beautiful with panoramic views of the Himalayas. Stay at Teahouse in Mansarovar Lake.
Day 07: Explore holy Manasarovar Lake.
Day 08: Drive from Mansarovar Lake to Darchen (4620m).
After breakfast, 30 km drive north of Lake Mansarovar to Darchen, the main gateway, and the village. The monastery at Darchen, Darchen Gon, is a part of the Drukpa sect. The two-story monastery structure in the center of the town serves as a trading post and shelter for pilgrims. Within the dukhang assembly hall are new and old thangka paintings and some statues, the main image being Sakyamuni. West of the gompa is the Mani Lhakhang that has a large, new mani prayer wheel. This is the site where the original old flagpole (a darken is a flagpole for prayer flags) of Darchen was located. When beginning their kora pilgrimage around Kailash, many pilgrims often circumambulate the Darchen Gon monastery and the Mani Lhakhang before setting out. We organize yaks for the Kailash circuit trek at Darchen. Stay at Teahouse in Darchen.
Day 09: Trek from Darchen to Dira-Puk ( 4860 m).
Trek to Dira Phuk, this Kailash circuit covers 53 km and can be done in 3 days. We head west in clockwise direction and after a few kilometers, the trail climbs up to a cairn at 4730 m from where the southern face of Mt. Kailash comes to view. En route visit Tarboche where annual flagpole raising ceremony takes place during Saga Dawa. Stay at Teahouse in Dira-Phuk.
Day 10: Trek from Dira-Phuk to Zutrul-Phuk ( 4790m).
Trek from Dira-Phuk to Zutrul-Phuk 4790 m, (6 hrs walking). Today we cross Drolma la pass (5630 M) and Gauri Kund Lake (5608 m) where Hindus worship and immerse themselves in the icy waters of the lake. Stay at Teahouse in ZuthulPhuk.
Day 11: Drive from ZuthulPhuk to Mayumla via Darchen.
After breakfast drive from Zuthulphuk to My umla via Darchen The final end of the parikrama is an easy 2-3 hrs walk down to where the river emerges onto the Barga plain. We complete the 3 days circuit trek of Mt. Kailash. Stay at Teahouse in My Umla.
Day 12: (Retuning of our) After breakfast drive to Saga (4380 m).
Stay at Guest house.
Day 13: After breakfast drive to Nylam / Zhangmu.
Stay at the hotel.
Day 14: Drive from Zhangmu to Kathmandu via Kodari border.
After breakfast drive to Kodari friendship bridge, after custom clearance drive to Kathmandu. Check into hotel.
Day 15: Leisure in Kathmandu.
Day 16: Farewell.
